Finnish President Alexander Stubb has embarked on a two-day state visit to Luxembourg, aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and discussing European matters of mutual interest. The visit commenced on Tuesday with a welcoming ceremony held outside the Grand Ducal Palace, where Stubb and his wife were received with military honors. Following this, they met with Luxembourg’s Grand Ducal couple and paid tribute to fallen servicemen by laying a wreath at the eternal flame.
During his visit, President Stubb is scheduled to engage with key Luxembourgish officials including President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. These discussions are anticipated to delve into strengthening bilateral relations and addressing current European affairs, underscoring the cooperative spirit between the two nations.
The itinerary also includes visits to prominent European institutions situated in Luxembourg. Stubb is set to visit the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Justice, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between Finland and Luxembourg within these significant European bodies.
On the second day of his visit, President Stubb will tour the University of Luxembourg’s Belval campus and the SES headquarters in Betzdorf. These visits aim to bolster academic and economic cooperation between the two countries, reflecting a commitment to fostering growth and innovation through shared educational and technological exchanges.
