As the summer progresses, France and Luxembourg are bracing for their fourth significant heatwave, with temperatures set to escalate sharply from July 28. This intense heat is anticipated to persist into the early days of August, posing potential threats due to sustained high temperatures.
The heatwave is expected to initiate in southwestern France, progressively extending across most of the nation. In certain regions, the mercury is predicted to soar to between 40 and 41 degrees Celsius, while numerous areas might see temperatures ranging from 35 to 38 degrees Celsius. The nights are unlikely to offer much reprieve, with temperatures in several locations forecasted to remain above 20 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg is also preparing for a substantial rise in temperature following a relatively cooler start to the week. By Wednesday and Thursday, the country is anticipated to experience highs climbing to between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius, under predominantly clear skies.
Weather specialists caution that this prolonged bout of extreme heat could extend into early August. This adds to existing worries regarding persistent drought conditions and the increased likelihood of wildfires throughout the region, further exacerbating environmental and safety concerns.
